Kelly with HK Services & HK's Party Specialty
I had a very down-to-earth conversation with Kelly to learn more about her journey, what drives her, and the little things that make her who she is.
Here's what she had to say.
Tell us about what you were doing before HK Services and HK’s Party Specialty, and what that journey looked like for you?
Kelly: I was working for a local roofing company running their permits. I did NOT imagine I would end up owning two separate service businesses one day!
Share something about yourself that people might not expect.
Kelly: I get a little spark when someone asks something unexpected or takes us in a direction I didn’t see coming. It keeps things interesting and lets me show a different side of myself.
Be honest, what keeps you going on the days that feel heavy or exhausting?
Kelly: Those moments are the purpose behind what I do. I’m here to make things easier, clearer, lighter. Even one good conversation can shift someone’s whole day, and that’s enough to pull me forward.
Give us a little insight to what led you to start HK Services and HK’s Party Specialty.
Kelly: I wanted to build something that reflects my standards. I saw how client experiences should be handled, and the ever-changing chaos felt manageable. Whether it's an event, property owners or contractors navigating building permits, or someone looking for a sense of security, they know they can trust me.
If you had to choose, what type of event has been your favorite to be a part of so far and why?
Kelly: If I had to pick a favorite, it would absolutely be weddings but not just because they’re beautiful or emotional. It’s because weddings are this perfect blend of connection, meaning, creativity, and those tiny details that make a moment unforgettable.
Looking back, what’s something you would tell yourself when you were just getting started?
Kelly: Don’t feel like you have to say yes to every client, every request, or opportunity. Not every opportunity is your opportunity. Trust that the right one will come when you need it the most.
When you were younger, what was your dream profession?
Kelly: I wanted to work in the nonprofit world, be someone who cared about impact, about people, and doing meaningful work.
Let’s get a little more personal—what’s something small that can instantly make your day better?
Kelly: Taking the long way around because the music is right on key!
What’s a personality trait of yours that you fully embrace?
Kelly: Being a little dramatic.
Share one thing that’s still on your bucket list.
Kelly: An Alaskan cruise.
When life gets busy, what’s something you always try to make time for?
Kelly: A moment of genuine connection, whether it's a hug from a tiny person or animal, or a good conversation.
Talking with Kelly, one thing becomes clear...she’s built her businesses around more than just multiple services. At the core of everything she does is connection, trust, and a genuine desire to make things feel a little easier for the people she works with.
But beyond the business side, it’s the little things that stand out the most for her like the appreciation for meaningful conversations, the joy in unexpected moments, and the intention she brings into her everyday life!
And that’s the heart behind the hustle! 💜
